If your office is wherever you are then you need an Internet Access Hotel. When you are making your travel reservations it is always a good idea to question the type of internet access hotel that will be available to you. Is their access reliable? Do they place restrictions on when you can log on; only allowing it during specific times? No one wants to pay if it's not readily available for use. If you are traveling for work, question your co-workers to find out where they stayed and how their internet access at their hotels was. Also, what kind of work do you need the internet for? If you will be doing lots of research and need to be connected for a long period of time you will need a strong connection with a fast speed, as opposed to just needing it to log on to retrieve and send sporadic emails. It is also a good idea to call ahead and find out how easy it is to connect. No one wants to have to spend a significant amount of time reconfiguring their laptop, and having to log onto multiple programs just to send an email. Also, is there tech support available if you have trouble getting connected? If there is no support what would you do if you had a problem? Another important question to ask is how much does it cost. Some hotels supply free internet access, while others charge either an hourly rate or a daily rate. Don't assume it is free. If they do charge, will it be added to your hotel bill, or do they require you to pay before you use. Do they have different rates for business use as opposed to personal use? And lastly, if you have to use your own ISP will it be counted as just a phone call and if so, what type of charges incur, will it be for the duration of the call (connection) or per call? It is important that you know all of these answers before you decide on which hotel to use. This way there will be no surprises when you pay your bill at checkout. |
