A Page Counter - See which of your pages gets visited the most

At the bottom of a lot of internet pages you will see a Page Counter. It's a number that informs you how many others have visited that page. The amount is displayed in either plain text or a digital image. The website owner can change the font, color and style to suit the look of his website. The most classic example looks like odometer wheels. You can use it for site analysis.

Often times you will see a date by the page counter. This informs you of when the page counter was set up or the date of its last reset. Without a date present you wouldn't be able to estimate the time frame the amount of page loads occurred in. However, since page counters can easily be manipulated, the webmaster could easily begin the counter at a higher number which then gives the impression the website is busier and more popular than perhaps it is. Page counters aren't as popular today as they once were. They are still used, you just wont find them on every single page like you would have even five years ago.
